Currant Restaurant San Diego

If you’re looking for an opportunity to survey the breadth of San Diego County’s incredible culinary heritage, you’re in luck.

After all, San Diego Restaurant Week is fast approaching: The first 2015 edition of this biannual festival, which offers great deals from many of the region’s best restaurants, runs January 18-24! And not only does the Sofia Hotel offer the perfect accommodations for enjoying the event’s gustatory safari, but our very own on-site eatery, Currant, is once again participating!

Restaurant Week Primer

One of the joys of San Diego Restaurant Week is that you don’t need any kind of ticket, pass, or fee payment to take part in the fun.

Instead, all you do is show up at one of the restaurants taking part—and there are more than 180 of them—and enjoy a discounted prix fixe feast!

The eateries are scattered across San Diego County—from Bellamy’s Restaurant in the North County to Indigo Grill downtown—and celebrate the remarkably diverse flavors master chefs conjure from some of Southern California’s most fertile landscapes. Two-course lunch prices are just $10, $15, or $20; the unbeatable price tags for three-course dinners range between $20 and $50.

Currant’s Restaurant Week Specials

The Sofia’s own celebrated dining establishment, Current American Brasserie, will be serving prix fixe lunches and dinners throughout Restaurant Week. These amazing dishes, which’ll surely have you coming back for more, represent Currant’s unique aesthetic, where classic French style is creatively and adventurously reimagined in a down-home American atmosphere.

The starters for lunch and dinner include onion soup gratinée, habanero-tangerine salmon tartare, or poached pear salad. Among the lunch entrées are a catch-of-the-day sandwich or croque monsieur, while dinner’s main-course options include seared duck breast and duck confit or sautéed sea bass. You’ll melt over a delicious Currant dessert of cara cara orange crème brulée, profiterole, or chocolate mousse cake.
