Fall’s in the air, and that means it’s football season in San Diego. Here at the Sofia Hotel, we invite you to come stay with us and go see our very own San Diego Chargers—one of the best ways to embrace a beautifully sunny and balmy autumn in America’s Finest City!

The Bolts play in the legendary Qualcomm Stadium, less than 10 miles from our downtown hotel. The San Diego Trolley’s Green Line provides convenient transportation to the Q.

Checking In With the Chargers

As of Week 4, the Chargers are 2–2 in the regular season: They kicked off proceedings with a win over the Detroit Lions, fell to the Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings, and then triumphed by three points over the Cleveland Browns. (The Bolts also had a pair of wins and losses each in the preseason.) They’ve come out on top at both of the home games they’ve played thus far.

Upcoming showdowns include major AFC West rivals—the Oakland Raiders on October 25, the Kansas City Chiefs on November 22, and the Denver Broncos on December 6—as well as the first appearances in San Diego in years by the Pittsburgh Steelers (on October 12) and the Chicago Bears (on November 9). That’s a whole lot of drama on tap.

Qualcomm Stadium

No matter the result, it’s always exciting to see Mike McCoy, Philip Rivers, and the team put in a day’s work on the Qualcomm field. Qualcomm opened in 1967 as the San Diego Stadium, welcoming the Chargers to our fair city from their former home in Los Angeles. Also hosting the San Diego State University Aztecs (and the site of the Holiday and Poinsettia bowls), Qualcomm Stadium was additionally the longtime stomping ground of the San Diego Padres, who ultimately moved to Petco Park.
