San Diego’s internationally known for its food obsession and its artsy vibe. If you’re looking to tap into both those strands of the city’s vivacious spirit, you’ve got a freshly debuted “one-stop-shop” venue for it: the Liberty Public Market!

Next time you’re enjoying the historic downtown accommodations we offer here at the Sofia Hotel, come check out this exciting new community hub just a few miles away—the market’s open seven days a week, so no excuses!

A Lovely Spread

Managed by Blue Bridge Hospitality, the Liberty Public Market stocks its impressive 25,000-square-foot hall with an amazing array of vendors. Among them are local food-truck and farmers-market outfits getting the chance to offer storefront operations as well as restaurants and foodmakers both familiar and brand-new.

You’ve got a globe-spanning lineup of culinary traditions to explore for lunch or dinner here, from Cecilia’s Taqueria and Wicked Maine Lobster to Mama Made Thai and Le Parfait Paris. And between purveyors like Venissimo Cheese and the Liberty Meat Shop and the farm bounty of the Garden Fresh produce stand, the market puts some outstandingly high-quality homegrown ingredients at your fingertips.

Thirsty? Wines from the world’s great vineyards await your sipping at the Grape Smuggler, while draft and bottled beer of local, domestic, and international pedigree make Bottlecraft a great happy-hour hangout for brew connoisseurs. And don’t forget the WestBean Coffee Roasters for starting your day off right—or tracking down a much-needed afternoon pick-me-up.

We’ve merely sampled the Liberty Public Market lineup: You can check out the full list of businesses at the market’s website.

An Everyday Affair

The Liberty Public Market is open 11 AM through 7 PM each and every day of the week; some vendors are open earlier or later, too. Besides the main market hall, there are outdoor dining decks as well as a spacious dog-friendly patio for installing your pooch. (Non-service dogs aren’t allowed in the market proper—but you can purchase natural pet snacks inside at Howlistic!)

The market’s home, Liberty Station, is just a short car or bus ride northwest from the Sofia Hotel. So celebrate the across-the-board bounty of San Diego—and our city’s über-talented chefs, growers, and food artisans—at the Liberty Public Market!
