Relish San Diego’s Museums In February With Half-Off Admission
January 29th, 2016|SofiaBlog

February’s just around the corner, and there won’t be a better month all year to enjoy San Diego’s fantastic—and fantastically varied—lineup of museums.

Why? Well, thanks to Macy’s, visitors will again be able to enjoy half-price admission to a whopping 45 museums affiliated with the San Diego Museum Council—all month long! The free passes, which can be picked up at any San Diego/Temecula/Imperial Valley Macy’s store beginning February 1, provide that discounted entry for up to four people (while supplies last, that is).

Amazing Variety at Your Fingertips

That’s a truly unbeatable deal, especially when you consider the caliber and coverage of our area museums, historical sites, and related cultural institutions. With that half-off pass, for instance, you can visit the Cabrillo National Monument, that gorgeous headland on the Point Loma Peninsula where Europeans first made landfall on the American West Coast. Besides that heritage, the monument includes the Point Loma Lighthouse (built back in 1855), exhibits on Cabrillo’s rich World War II history, and fertile tidepools—not to mention stunning views out over the Pacific.

Or how about the Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego, one of the linchpins of Balboa Park? From the koi ponds and fountains to the gnarled bonsai, this lovely and authentically designed Japanese garden makes one of San Diego’s most serene settings while celebrating the “sisterhood” of our city and Yokohama, Japan.

And then there’s the California Surf Museum—which outlines Southern California’s world-famous surfing legacy with loads of fascinating memorabilia—and the USS Midway Museum, and the Junipero Serra Museum, and the Adobe Chapel…the list goes on and on. (You can see the full list of participating San Diego Museum Council sites right here.)
